Roles and Responsibilities
WWF-India, engaged in wildlife and nature conservation in the country, invites applications from candidates with an inherent sensitivity towards the conservation of nature, to join us as Project officer at our Coimbatore/ Pollachi office to work with the communities in Anamalai Tiger Reserve. The incumbent will be part of the Community engagement team at WWF-India.
Candidate will be working in the Community Engagement projects in Anamalai Tiger reserve. Strong institutions plays a vital role in empowering communities to understand and exercise their rights and meet their developmental and societal needs. Our major program in Anamalai would focus on initiation, formation and strengthening institutions among communities for conservation and livelihood. The role of the candidate will include involving with six different communities and other relevant stakeholders.
Job Profile:
- Field level implementation of planned activities on sustainable forest and resource management and livelihood enhancement along with communities and partners.
- Organization and coordination for consultations meetings & discussions with local communities and youths.
- Conducting socio-economic surveys, including data collection, analysis and report preparations.
- Coordination with local stakeholders like Forest and Tribal Departments, Local Self Governments, consultants, research institutes to achieve the outcomes.
- Carry out any other responsibilities related to execution of activities of the Community Engagement team as mutually agreed.

Qualifications, Experience and competencies required:
- Master’s in Social Work or any other Master’s degree in Social Sciences.
- 2-3 years of experience working with communities living in and around forest areas
- Experience in environmental, forest and natural resource management will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency/fluency in English and Tamil.
- Ability to mobilize and engage communities
- Willingness to work in remote forest areas with limited facilities.
- Capacity building & Training abilities
- Sensitivity to community and conservation issues

Remuneration will be competitive with Indian NGO pay scales and will depend upon candidate’s experience levels and the overall WWF-India salary structure. WWF-India does not provide housing, telephone or vehicle facilities.
