Roles and Responsibilities
A.The Vice Principal is responsible for maintaining regular correspondence via mail with the VERTEX /
Zonal Office as per the communication protocol issued by VERTEX. A copy of the mail should be sent to the Principal.
The mails should be worded professionally with clear communication and use of business
language.
Preserve and ensure confidentiality of all the documents, manuals, planners, worksheets and other curriculum material of the school.
Ensure timely submission of Fortnightly Reports and Academic Planners according to the schedule outlined by VERTEX.
Co-ordinate with the various departments in VERTEX for the smooth functioning of school
operations.
B. ACADEMICS
The Vice Principal acts as an academic head of the school and is expected to share with the
Coordinator/Teachers,the responsibility of academic progress and emotional and physical well-being of students.
Ensure that the plans are available to the Coordinators and that they go through the same.
Send regular feedback on curriculum and its implementation as and when required by VERTEX.
Ensure that the Curriculum workshops for all levels are being conducted regularly and effectively.
Observe curriculum workshops of all Coordinators as per the guidelines.
Assist in yearly teacher evaluations and observe lessons of different sections of the school to
ensure smooth implementation of lesson plans.Monitor Sports and Performing activities on a regular basis and plan and execute actions for
improvement.
Provide timely curriculum-related feedback to Coordinators, Teachers and SPA Coaches in terms of scope of improvement and ensure comprehensive compliance to the observations.
Mentor and guide the staff members on a regular basis, and encourage a positive climate in the
school.
Ensure the academic success of all students by consistent evaluation of Teachers, and regular
counselling and mentoring of students.
Analyse board exam results with a view to enhance student performance. Share the data with
VERTEX, as per the timeline defined.
C. ADMINISTRATION RELATED
Work closely with the Principal on a daily basis to ensure smooth overall functioning of the school.
Support committees of staff and parent that function to improve the learning and social
environment of the school for the students.
Meet parents of students with academic concerns and document the same for reference.
Coordinate between the SPA and academic departments for smooth functioning of the time
table/lesson implementation.
Effectively guide and motivate teachers to drive their best as per the VIBGYOR curriculum
philosophy.
Directs assemblies and other special gatherings of students for events throughout the year, and
coordinates with the relevant teams / departments for organizing external competitions, external
examinations and other events/programs.
Responsible for the supervision and general discipline of the school.
Effectively work with Human Resources team to recruit efficient resources within the prescribed
time frame.
Effectively control attrition by facilitating a conducive work environment for the school staff.
Responsible for all documentation work regarding school admissions and play a leading role in the
student admission process.
Effectively guide the Relationship Cell team to resolve parent concerns/queries.
Provide timely data as and when required by VERTEX/ZO
Ensure implementation of Administrative Systems, Processes and Policies.
Develop emergency response plans for schools as required by state and federal education
agencies. Ensure filing reports and updating as required.
D. OPERATIONS
1) The Vice Principal should prima facie:Be familiar with all the Manuals: the Teachers Manual, Administrative Manual, Parents Manual,
SPA Manual, Inclusive Education Manual, KIDS Club, ERP Manual and Employee Handbook and
adhere to the same.
Ensure that training and induction for all staff members are conducted effectively and promote
maximum participation.
2) Maintenance of Records
Monitor the appropriate maintenance of the records/ formats by all Coordinators.
Monitor all ERP entries done by the teachers like attendance of students, marks entry, etc.
3) School Policies
Be aware of and adhere to all policies of the school affecting the staff and students.
Fulfil all contractual obligations as mentioned in the Employee Handbook.
Complete such forms and records as are required to facilitate the smooth operation of the school or the school system.
Attend all meetings convened by the Principal.
Be in school at a reasonable time prior to the beginning of the regular session and after it as well as per the HR Policy.
Adhere to all the policies in force or introduced from time to time and actively implement the
same.
Work in coordination with the Centre Head to ensure implementation of HR Policies and Processes as per guidelines of VERTEX in relation to Appraisal, Induction, Recruitments, Transfers, Joining and Exit procedures.
Desired Candidate Profile
Graduate/Post gradate with B.ed degree, leadership experience, team management, head of department, headmistress, vice principal, Academic head.
