Qualification Masters degree or Graduate degree in Civil/Structural/Environmental/Public health engineering
Exp 15 years (10 years with ADB funded projects)
Position Overview: The Construction Manager will report to the Team Leader and play a crucial role in the administration of construction contract works. This position involves coordinating with contractors, supervising inspection staff, and ensuring quality assurance in all construction activities. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and skilled in managing multiple aspects of construction projects.
Hands on experience of PRIMAVERA, Should have knowledge of FIDIC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Administration: Assist the Team Leader with the timely exchange of correspondence, submittals, and Requests for Information (RFIs) to contractors.
- Staff Supervision: Orient, assign, and supervise construction inspection staff daily to ensure comprehensive coverage of contractor activities.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor all aspects of construction to ensure compliance with contract documents, providing appropriate levels of supervision for quality assurance.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure inspectors verify that contractors adhere to the approved site health and safety plan.
- Progress Monitoring: Continuously review contractor progress, monitoring materials incorporated in the work, stored materials on-site, and contractor manpower and equipment.
- Meeting Participation: Attend weekly, monthly, and other progress meetings as required by the Support Engineer.
- Issue Identification: Identify constraints in the construction process and recommend corrective measures to mitigate issues.
- Inspector Oversight: Review daily diaries of inspectors and provide general oversight, including performance guidance and work assignments.
- Coordination: Collaborate with the contractors supervisory personnel regarding scheduling, sequencing, and methods of work.
- Reporting: Conduct continuous inspections and maintain regular consultation with the Field Engineer, preparing written and oral reports to the Team Leader on contractual and procedural matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- years of experience in construction management, preferably in water and waste treatment projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
