- To lead and engage with other engineers from Shell Projects & Technology, Shell operating companies, joint ventures, and strategic 3P customers to maximize value delivered
- To derive value for Shell through participation in industry, academia, and standards consortia (e.g., IChemE, ARC, OTC, etc.) and other forums.
- To actively pursue global alignment and standardization with other regions, and disciplines.
- To actively collaborate and share knowledge effectively across the Shell enterprise.
- To actively pursue P&T organization vision in project and asset support and leverage technology to support bottom line of the company.
Your further accountabilities are:
- Accountable for corporate and Shell and work processes compliance, safety and driving
- Enterprise First behaviour about Leadership, Accountability and Teamwork
- Engagement with the asset(s) to provide visible and felt support
- Serve as focal point/ regional subject matter expert (SME) specifically on Data Reconciliation, Real Time Optimization and Dynamic Simulation
- Support projects by providing required technical assurance during design and execution.
- Actively share and replicate best practices across Shell ventures
- Actively participate in functional and discipline networks
- Provide technical review and recommendation for peers.
- Ensure plant safety, integrity and reliability through development, implementation and improvement of specific Engineering Standards that are based on applicable international standards and statutory requirements.
- Maintain strong contacts with Shell Operating entities, Joint Ventures and strategic 3P Customers in Asia-Pac & Middle East.
- General accountabilities are established per the Engineering Job Ladder for each Job Grade. Within the group of M&O Engineers, there will be at least one Principal Technical Expert (PTE) and several Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in this group.
- PTE/SME roles will be accountable for global and regional technology direction.
- Additionally, all positions in this group are accountable for corporate and P&T standards and work processes compliance, and driving Enterprise First behaviors with regard to Leadership, Accountability and Teamwork.
- Economically justify, design and implement and maintain real time monitoring, and optimization systems to provide actionable and explicit information for day-to-day operations management as well as closed loop automated optimization.
- Provide troubleshooting, and technical support for modelling and optimization systems
- Design, specify, deploy, and sustain real-time operations processes and applications (i.e. WRFM, Production Universe, etc.)
- Design, specify, deploy, and sustain optimization systems (e.g. ROMeo, Utility Optimization System, Production Optimization)
- Design, specify, deploy, and sustain simulation and monitoring systems (e.g. UniSim, Dynsim, PROMOTE, SmartPerform, ProII, AspenPlus)
- Design, specify, deploy, and sustain process simulation models in steady state and dynamics (e.g. UniSim, Dynsim, PROMOTE, SmartPerform, ProII, AspenPlus)
- Design, specify, deploy, and sustain Shell single phase and multiphase real time leak detection system
- Gatekeep/monitor modelling & optimization technology developments.
- Provide advice and guidance for ICE technology, engineering standards, and best practices.
Provide support to existing facilities including:
- a) Identifying reliability and operability risks and determining cost effective mitigation,
- b) Technology specification and prequalification,
- c) Shutdown and start-up operational support.
What we need from you
- BS or higher degree in a relevant Engineering degree (Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering) with at least 15 years of experience.
- As this position will be used to engage with Upstream/Midstream/Downstream Operating Units, and help them improve their business processes, a profound and practical understanding of the Upstream/Midstream/Downstream business is an absolute requirement.
- The M&O Engineer is expected to have a sound background in engineering, as well as significant knowledge in the fields of process technology, transport phenomena, mathematics, simulation, and technical computing. The main qualification is a proven and extensive experience in Oil and Gas business.
- Important soft skills include Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent collaboration and team working skills, resilience to change, and self-motivating.
- The M&O engineer is expected to have skill to mastery level in at least two of the three key discipline area competencies, indicated below:
- Steady state and Dynamic Simulation
- Equipment, process modelling and Real-time optimization
- Real-time monitoring and leak detection
Knowledge level in these discipline area competencies will be preferred:
- Base Layer and Advanced Process Control
- Field Instrumentation and Metering
- Process Automation System Engineering
- Delivers Results & Champions Customer Focus
- Analyses & Solves Problems
