The Team We are a growing, new team with ambition and excitement. Experienced Embedded Controls Engineers will be supporting you and the new team to manage the work and deliverables. You will have help, but this is a place to innovate with your team engagement. You are empowered to take ownership and make decisions, but with support from senior leadership when you need it. The Role The successful candidate will be working hands on with the design of controls systems for conventional, hybrid and all electric vehicles. They will be expected to evaluate, implement and create embedded, Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) controls and hardware development for locomotive subsystems, from requirements development to model development, testing and validating designs on locomotive and in the simulation lab, utilizing tools like Matlab, Simulink, Doors and ClearQuest. In addition, you will be the face of QuEST to your customers. Listen to customers problems, and build on the experiences you have personally had, then help your team develop innovative ways to solve their engineering problems. Job Functions Execute a variety of projects ensuring proper definition of requirements and interfaces for various subsystems
Design, integrate, implement and validate subsystem functions and Human Machine Interface for locomotives
Use sound engineering principles and adhere to business standards, practices, and procedures, to develop product / program requirements
Lead/support investigation, root-cause identification, and resolution of reliability issues
Ensure that the documentation of technical data generated for the assigned project is consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Work as part of a cohesive design engineering team
Interact with internal and external customers and ensures satisfactory deliverables
Conceptualize and prepare preliminary and final detail design and documentation of systems components and assemblies
Present work to customers at product reviews
Qualifications Were excited to talk to you if you have: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a STEM discipline.
Experience with MATLAB and Simulink Modeling tools
Experience with RTOS control design, hardware design, diagnostics, or test
Willingness to work in a customer facing environment, in a fast paced development environment
Ability and willingness to work "hands-on" in test labs and on locomotives with high HP (1000 KVA), medium voltage (2 KV) and high current (10 KA) systems
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
Solid oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
PC proficiency

Desired characteristics: Experience with system, subsystem and component level validation testing
Experience with transportation/locomotive systems control design and test
Experience with Human Machine Interface and human factors analysis for embedded systems
Experience with Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) tools (i.e. FMEA, Score Cards)
