JOB PURPOSE: 1. To be part of a team providing 24-hour medical cover and immediate first line resuscitation to any hospital patient, visitor, or staff member as required. 2. To assist in the management of patients and provide backup support to the consultant.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Professional approach to be adapted with all patients, staff, and visitors.
2. To provide medical cover, routine, and emergency, during hours of duty and work in conjunction with the other specialties to serve the institute.
3. To be able to perform procedures like Central line, IV Channelization, Intubation, etc.
4. To be able to operate instruments like Ventilator.
5. Following all Clinical safety, hygiene, infection control protocols (e.g. wearing gloves when required, aprons, maintaining hand hygiene, etc).
6. To be available to monitor patients as and when required or when requested.
7. Required to identify the complex health problems of the patients and report immediately to the concerned doctor.
8.Supervise daily clinical management of all patients under the guidance of Consultants.
9.Should be able to prescribe pain management medicines.
10. Effective communication with patients, family, colleagues, and other health care workers.
11. Treatment sheets to be complete with diagnosis (capital letters).
12. Each treatment sheet should be dated, named, and signed by the writing doctor. Doctors should refer to the progress notes while writing treatment sheets.
13. To assist the Consultants for rounds apart from taking independent rounds themselves and should follow up the patients for any further care (change in the plan of Treatment).
14. Required to accompany Consultants for rounds and taking notes as required
15. Preparing the discharge summary.
16. Being responsible for the assessment of the new patients admitted.
17. Required to follow the on-call and duty rota based on the department's requirement.
18. To be part of the Quality Improvement Initiative and protocols of the organization.
