5 things you will have to remember when you go back to work

It’s finally time to return to the office. Office life has its attractiveness, something we all have missed in the past two years. Meeting colleagues, the fun commutes, or just the work desk where you focus solely on your job or daydream, there is so much we haven’t done in a while and it can be said for sure, we all have missed it.

But with the buildings opening up, the time to get back to the old normal is finally on us! Having accustomed to working from home and the added benefits that come with it,  going back to the office seems like hard work to do.

And so, what are the few things that you need to do when you are preparing to go back to the regular 9 to 5 office days? We are here to answer this question for you.

In this blog, we will discuss the 5 things you will have to remember when you are planning to put on your work shoes and going back up work.

1. Give your wardrobe a makeover

The one thing that we didn’t have to care about while working from home is worrying about the work clothes. Working in our underwear to putting up a formal shirt over shorts, to getting ready in just under a minute, we are not proud to say, we all have blame to share.

As it is often said,  “the clothes maketh the man”, dressing up for the occasion is bound to boost up your confidence, and it is bound to boost up your confidence for the much-needed confidence you will need to go back to work.

So, it is suggested that you get equipped with a new wardrobe, and discover the new you, and who knows, maybe the cute colleague in the next workstation might notice you as well.

2. Manage your sleep schedule

As we prepare to return to the office, the first thing we need to take care of is to create a sustainable sleeping habit. We all have a certain time when we work our best, and all this remote working and the flexibility of working on a flexible timeline might have destroyed our ability to concentrate, and that might make our going back to the regular 9 to 5 hard.

Managing a set sleep schedule may seem trivial, but it will always be an important aspect of our life. So, make sure that before you go back to working from the office, it is suggested that you have a regular sleep schedule in advance. Given below are a few pointers on how you can improve your sleep cycle.:

1. Identify your body clock

Our body clocks have seen an extensive shift in the past year. And without workplaces opening up, it is time for us to go back to our old ways. Recognize your prevailing body clock and try to get in sync with your duty hours.

And since we must get an 8-hour sleep, make sure you are comfortable in bed at best at least 10 hours you have to leave for work. This will give you enough time to catch up on sleep and get ready for the day, even without feeling sleepy the whole day. And making sure that you remember the simple but important things like eating dinner early, staying hydrated, logging out of social media in the evening can help you in establishing a suitable sleep schedule before you return to work.

2. Tap out of your phone

It is scientifically proven that using cell phones before sleeping can seriously harm your sleep. The blue light from cell phones is harmful to the eyes, and the deep rabbit hole of useless information and contents and tik tok higjinkery will keep you up all night, making you feel tired the rest of the day.

Decide on a time when you will stop using the screen time. For example, if you decide to go to bed by 10, make sure you stop using your phone by 9.30.

Make sure you won’t sleep with your cellphone by your pillow. This will help you sleep without any distractions.

3. Plan your new routine

If you think getting accustomed to working from home is a tough job, going back to the office will be no easy feat either. One of the best ways to prepare to return to the office is to make a plan around the days you will be going to have.

Here are some things you can do to build your new routine and get you accustomed to working from the office:

  • Decide a time to sleep and wake up.

  • Save 8 hours for sleep

  • List your everyday activities

  • Set a fixed time for meals

  • Try to fit some of your tasks between going and coming back from the office.

  • Find time to unwind and relax

4. Follow every covid-19 protocol at work

Social distancing and sanitizing our surroundings and making sure of our surroundings has become an important part of our lives. With offices opening up, you must get ready to return to the office the right way taking care of all the Covid protocols.

Basic habits like always wearing a mask, maintaining physical distance and sanitizing your surroundings, and following the rest of the Covid protocols can help you stay safe as you return to work during a pandemic.

5. Make time to interact with your colleagues

One of the things we have missed while working remotely from home is face-to-face interaction with our colleagues and friends. While we all stayed in touch with the help of video calls and texts it is not the same thing.

Now, as we all are preparing to return to the office, one of the things we all need to do is find time to interact with our colleagues to catch up with everyone. So, one of the few things you can do is Try making plans for after-hours or arrange a lunch with the team. It may seem like a simple tip, but it will help you to connect with your colleagues again.

Conclusion

As you prepare to return to the office, we are sure there is a lot on your mind. We hope with this blog, you will find the answers to some of your questions and figure out where to get started. So, get ready, go back and break a leg and achieve your dreams.

All the best!
